★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È uno dei simboli di Napoli sebbene si trovi nel cortile di un edificio privato. Percorrendo via San Biagio dei Librai, si può entrare nel monumentale Palazzo Diomede Carafa e trovarsi di fronte questa splendida testa di cavallo descritta entusiasticamente anche da Ghoete nel suo “Viaggio in Italia”. In realtà la testa che ci appare oggi è una copia (peraltro bellissima!) in terracotta poiché l’originale in bronzo si trova dal 1809 al Museo Archeologico di Napoli: l'ultimo principe Carafa di Colubrano, pensando si trattasse di un’opera del III secolo a.C., la donò al museo. Non sapeva che la scultura bronzea era stata realizzata nel 1456 dal grande Donatello...
 It is one of the symbols of Naples although it is located in the courtyard of a private building. Going along Via San Biagio dei Librai, you can enter the monumental Diomede Carafa Palace and find yourself in front of this splendid horse head also enthusiastically described by Ghoete in his "Journey to Italy". Actually, the head that appears today is a copy (which is also beautiful!) In terracotta because the original in bronze is found from 1809 at the Archaeological Museum of Naples: the last Prince Carafa di Colubrano, thinking it was a work of the 3rd century BC, donated it to the museum. He did not know that the bronze sculpture was made in 1456 by the great Donatello ...
