★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Seeing the marble quarries was one of the only reasons why I wanted to visit Carrara, and this tour certainly did not disappoint! My partner and I did the 50 minute jeep tour which was 12 euro each. There were 8 people in the vehicle and 2 vehicles went up the mountain in our session. Our driver, Matteo, was very approachable and knowledgeable about the different types of marble and the quarrying process. It was great to see quarrymen working in the quarry directly adjacent while Matteo was explaining this process.
It is difficult to get to and typing in the address in Google maps can get you to the wrong location. The GPS coordinates are also incorrect. searching "Cava Museo" in maps should get you to the correct location.
We did not have a car, so we walked up to the Museo from Carrara Ospedale (just over 1 hour uphill), and to return, we walked to Miseglia (20 min downhill) and took the public bus back into town.

Huge room in the hill. Incredible cave size.
Entry costs 30,- EUR per 2 people & car.
If you take your car into the cave, it is adventure road in the long tunnel. When you leave it, you will neeed a car wash. There are sevetal car washes in the Carrara city, no problem.
