★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is the cathedral of Porto Santa Rufina, although calling La Storta a cathedral city is a sick joke.
The scheme for a decent-sized church for the village was begun in 1926 by the Jesuits, but the money ran out and the unfinished shell was simply abandoned until 1950 when it was made the cathedral. The design was by Filippo Sneider, but the lack of funds meant that the proposed dome was never built.
Very unfortunately, the construction was botched and major remedial work had to be carried out in 2010.
The church is worth a visit if you are hereabouts, but perhaps not worth travelling to see. The stained glass by Luciano Vinardi is good.

Weekdays 18:30; Sundays and Solemnities 8:00, 11:00, 18:30.
