A visit is highly recommended especially as the whole site is funded entirely privetly from grants, external fundings and ticked sales.

β β β β β Excellent guided tours of the most important catacomb in Naples. These rooms date back to the very early Christian times, you'll find some of the oldest frescoes of their type in the world. The guides are young and dynamic, very keen to answer any question as well, we had a great time. Visit was 1h in total and proceeds go to the local cooperative which runs the place and helps the local unemployed youth.

β β β β β Beautiful. They are still excavating places and discovering new catacombs. It's fascinating the stories and the history that is here. It's really cheap to enter and they will guide you through it in both English and Italian. This is a must see! It's perfect during the hot time as it's much cooler down in the tombs.

β β β β β Tour of the catacombs was fairly short but nice, and the views and stories inside are pretty interesting.
We did book a holy tour in advance via the website under the impression that it was in English since the entire tour is displayed on the website in English. Sadly however, the tour is in Italian only so we tried to change it to the available English tour of the catacombs which was possible but with no cash backs.... so be aware of this! Furthermore no complaints

β β β β β We did not intend to visit the catacombs on our visit to Naples but ended up going after a suggestion from someone we met. We are very happy we did! We were able to get tickets on our way there & they were very reasonably priced (it gets you into two different catacombs but unfortunately we only had time for San Genaro). One hour was a perfect length for the tour, we appreciated the option for English led, and it was very interesting information to learn. The tour guide even knew more information when asked about areas she did not initially mention. Also if you're looking for a way to escape the summer sun this is perfect, it is very cool & comfortable in the catacombs! There is also a beautiful view of Napoli nearby before/after your tour.
