Annoverato con altri analoghi costrutti dei paesi del comitato dell'antica biandrate ha subito pesanti rimaneggiamenti nel corso dei secoli. Fino a qualche anno fa e precisamente nel 2019 l'associazione ARPITESCA di Casalbeltrane aveva cercato sponsor e fondi per un tentativo serio di recupero. Il tutto complicato dal fatto che l'immobile sia per tre quarti del comune e per un quarto di un privato. La pandemia ha purtroppo rimescolato le carte e fatto cadere in stallo tutto il progetto, complice anche il disinteresse dell'attuale giunta comunale. Scomparso anche il fossato che lo cingeva e il torrione che proteggeva l'ingresso, abbandonata la cappella di san Martino, il castello è poco alla volta decaduto fino all'attuale stato di degrado: triste realtà per un fortilizio che ha più di 1000 anni.
