★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il castello di Vignale Vecchio è ricordato la prima volta in un documento di Federico Barbarossa risalente all´anno 1161 mentre più tardi, nel 1186, viene nuovamente menzionato quando Arrigo VI cede una parte di Vignale, insieme a Barbialla e Castelfalfi, al Vescovo di Volterra.
Dopo alcune guerre, il Castello di Vignale venne sottomesso a San Miniato, poi a Pisa e infine a Firenze, dopodiché fu abbandonato.
Tutt´oggi è possibile ammirare i resti del castello con la chiesina ed il vicino vecchio mulino.
 The castle of Vignale Vecchio is mentioned for the first time in a document by Federico Barbarossa dating back to 1161 while later, in 1186, it is mentioned again when Arrigo VI gives a part of Vignale, together with Barbialla and Castelfalfi, to the Bishop of Volterra. .
After a few wars, the Castello di Vignale was subdued to San Miniato, then to Pisa and finally to Florence, after which it was abandoned.
Even today it is possible to admire the remains of the castle with the small church and the nearby old mill.
