★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ci siamo arrivati in tarda serata il 2 giugno quando l'apertura non era prevista ma la squisita gentilezza della sua proprietaria ci ha permesso di assaporare almeno un po' della sua bellezza nascosta .... Ci torneremo dopo il 15 giugno
We arrived late in the evening on June 2nd when the opening was not scheduled but the exquisite kindness of its owner allowed us to savor at least a little of its hidden beauty .... We will be back after June 15th

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un bel borgo medievale, con un castello visconteo fatto costruire alla fine del 1300 da Gian Galeazzo Visconti. Impianto a quadrilatero, fossato perimetrale, cortile interno e 4 torri angolari. La torre del castello domina tutto il paese, ci sono 3 campanili delle chiese di San Rocco, ss Trinità e S. Maria Assunta, di cui ho aggiunto delle foto.
A beautiful medieval village, with a Visconti castle built in the late 1300s by Gian Galeazzo Visconti. Quadrilateral layout, perimeter moat, internal courtyard and 4 corner towers. The tower of the castle dominates the whole town, there are 3 bell towers of the churches of San Rocco, ss Trinità and S. Maria Assunta, of which I have added photos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È un castello ricco di storia, fra i più noti e importanti della Lomellina. Merito, questo, da ascrivere anche alla Fondazione Sartirana Arte, che si è preoccupata di allestire un museo negli spazi del maniero. Tuttavia è stupendo da vedere pure soltanto dall'esterno: la grande torre cilindrica dona un tocco inusuale al consueto corpo quadrilatero, e le piante rampicanti sulle sue mura sono fascinose da ammirare, soprattutto in primavera.
Costruito alla fine del XIV Secolo su impulso di Gian Galeazzo Visconti, fu ampliato un secolo dopo dagli Sforza. Nel Cinquecento, infine, venne trasformato in residenza signorile dai Gattinara, ed oggi lo si può ritrovare quasi del tutto identico a quest'ultima epoca.
It is a castle rich in history, one of the best known and most important in Lomellina. This is also due to the Sartirana Arte Foundation, which took care to set up a museum in the spaces of the manor. However, it is wonderful to see even only from the outside: the large cylindrical tower gives an unusual touch to the usual quadrilateral body, and the climbing plants on its walls are fascinating to admire, especially in spring.
Built at the end of the 14th century on the initiative of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, it was enlarged a century later by the Sforza. Finally, in the sixteenth century, it was transformed into a noble residence by the Gattinara family, and today it can be found almost identical to this last period.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This a cute a small village in Provincia di Lombardia. Know for their sweet and big onion, who tastes more like a fruit instead of an actual onion, it only has 1000-1500 citizens. The village has huge historical potential due to the impressive castle found in the center of the village, important houses dated in the 1700’s, a very large Catholic Church with an impressive architectural style. I was sad to learn that the majority of the citizens are old, there’s only one bar where you can drink something or eat a panini, there are no stores, no jobs and the young population has left. I find this village an opportunity to raise a young family and make it more liveable. It needs to be promoted both turistico and socially. Because is a lovely place full of history and filled with the Italian dolce way!
