Antico centro abitato di origine etrusca che sorge su un promontorio adiacente alla via Armerina nei pressi del ben noto ponte e delle antiche terme dei Gracchi. Noto sin dai tempi antichi, si hanno notizie storiche dal 1293 anno in cui fu acquistato dai Vico. Oggi purtroppo è in uno stato di totale abbandono e si possono ammirare i ruderi di un castello con le sue mura, con tratti anche di origine etrusca, di alcune abitazioni scavate nel tufo, una torre e, oltre al Ponte Nepesino sulla Via Armerina, è ben conservato il ponte sulla via d'accesso all'antico abitato. I primi resti risalgono all'età del ferro, questo forte provvisto di una torre fungeva da posto di controllo del Ponte Nepesino sulla Via Amerina che passa poco sotto di esso. Accedervi non è semplicissimo in quanto la vegetazione si è appropriata quasi totalmente del territorio, ma qualche sorta di sentiero è ancora presente. The entrance to the ruins is signposted on Via Castellaccio. There is a plaque with all the information on the history of the place. The first remains date back to the Iron Age, this fort with a tower served as a checkpoint for the Nepesino Bridge on the Via Amerina which passes just below it. Accessing it is not easy as the vegetation has almost totally taken over the territory, but some sort of path is still present.
