★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful old castle (original construction began before 1000 AD), centrally located (just 20 minutes east of Siena). Friendly owner and staff. Rooms are simple but comfortable, and each has small kitchens. Nice pool helps to cool off after warm day touring Tuscan countryside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed in the school house just recently. It was perfect for us, no stairs, closest rental to the pool, and we could park right outside our door. The two room place was spacious, comfortable, and so Italian! Our private back area was charming and so cool and lovely. The place doesn't have AC and there was a bit of a heat wave going on, but don't let that put you off. The walls are almost 2 feet thick! It stayed at a perfect temperature day and night. The place is only a few kilometers from the greatest little friendly town too. Wine and olive oil tours nearby. We had a car, and recommend you drive there; you are way out in the Italian countryside!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very interesting location and wonderful aesthetic, but my stay here was plagued by temperature. We had no control over the heating during our stay. We were instructed that we could use a fireplace and we were supplied with wood, but the wood was full of sap and impossible to get burning. At the end of our stay we also had no warm water.
While it's beautiful and full of history, it's difficult to enjoy when you're freezing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful setting, very attentive staff, unique location with centuries of history. An easy drive to siena, florence and the hill towns of tuscany. Can't think of a better place for a relaxing and cultural vacation! Will return!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of my favorite places on this planet!! Great location, wonderful breakfasts and views. Convenient location. We were able to easily navigate to Sienna and Florence from the castle. Cant wait to go back. We stayed in the Frattatoria with annex. We were a party of 5 adults. Very pet friendly.
