★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exceptional: we went with high expectations having read and seen a fair bit about the retreat, and these guys exceeded them in every single way. From the personal, friendly and informative welcome service to the large, spacious, beautifully-decorated rooms, the awesome restaurant (Cantina) service and Michelin-star food quality, to the beautiful pools and generous breakfast served outside in the courtyard, everything was amazing. I cannot recommend the place highly enough. We will undoubtedly return (but for more than one night next time!) ❤️ Castel Monastero!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are nice, but the service is poor. This surprises me as it is rated a five-star Resort and is certainly priced as such.
No one greeted us when we pulled up to the resort.
No one noticed us for more than 5 minutes when we stood at the counter for our dinner reservations.
While in the courtyard bar area, my husband had to finally get up to find someone after 10 minutes of sitting there.
And they store the bags of trash in Plain Sight at the top of the staircase to our room most of the day!
I would not return to this resort or recommend it to anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is extremely nice. Literally my wife and I used this as a home base for part of our Honeymoon in Tuscany. It's amazing for a few days in Tuscan region. Rooms awesome, location is beautiful but food and laundry service are a solid -1 star. Literally there is better food 5 minutes away at the local watering hole. We look at doing laundry and at 13-16 Euro per article 7 days of laundry doesn't make the service desirable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is an absolutely lovely location with beautiful rooms and a great pool area. The staff could not try harder to please their guests and everyone is exceptionally friendly. The restaurant is excellent, but overpriced and sadly the management had to discuss a reduction of costs with me, although we were woken on both mornings at 7 by loud gardening machines and the Wi-Fi connection did not work for a full day. At these prices I expect the courtesy of a reduction, when things don't go perfectly. The loss of two stars therefore solely for stingy management acting penny wise, pound foolish

The website is very misleading as it was saying booking with them a discount would be provided. When we arrived for our surprise the hotel didn’t even have our booking and asked me to forward the email confirmation. The price was very expensive for the room we got, and I checked booking, I could stay in a even better room for a better price. The room was very cute, but I couldn’t sleep for two nights as the mattress was too stiff.
The restaurant is also overpriced, we could not eat half of the stake, a wine tasting that was going to cost €19 became €40, etc..
Not very pleased place to stay for the price, you can find better places and restaurants around.
The only good thing about was the staff, specially Manuela, they were very kind and were trying they best to make the environment more friendly.
The pool area is the only thing that looks like a 5 stars hotel
Breakfast really poor, all the other restaurants are avoiding buffet due to COVID, not in this place. Everything looks and taste like an average hotel

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful hotel at a beautiful location with great facilities, just note it is in the middle of nowhere and difficult to find and reach. The rooms are fantastic and authentic. However this is where the positive points stop.
The staff is very distant. Only the main staff at the reception and restaurant are professional. The rest seem very stressed and tense, like they constantly are under pressure to perform. However they are obviously unqualified.
Prices are extreme, for EVERYTHING. For the rates of the room (600+ Euro's per night) the Spa is not even included and you even need to pay for extra water in the room. Also the price of the restaurants are unreasonable high, which is ok if the quality and service is high. But it simply is NOT, actually far from it. The service is not sincere (fake) and the food is tasteless (having tried multiple dishes).
Very nice location to see, but definitely not worth it. Absolutely ridiculously and unreasonably priced, certainly given the level of service and overall quality.
NOT recommended, look further. Any of the Borgo locations is far better, on ALL aspects.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice but I’d say overpriced; especially the restaurants and room service. Asking for a €30 surcharge on top of the cost of the food and beverages to be delivered to the room is insane; it’s a beautiful place though: quite rustic but the suite was nice, spacious and clean with excellent bathroom and shower room, although we did have to have the hot water boiler fixed on day 2 which was annoying. A good spot for 2/3 days but no more than that.
Good but not amazing - and city prices in the countryside makes little sense.
