Castle immersed in the park of the cerebellum. Summer is often a place for outdoor cinema.

A beautiful natural area that you would not expect on the outskirts of East Rome. Ideal for sports or walks in the midst of nature complete with a farm in its territory. The only thing is the maintenance that could be improved especially as regards the accessibility to the trails.

Beautiful not so much the castle itself (would urgent need of major extraordinary maintenance), as his surroundings. Inside the GRA, a natural park torn from overbuilding (I remember that around the 90s, the "Società Autostrade" had approved the project of a junction that crossed the park to enter on Via Tiburtina. Fortunately, the mobilization that triggered it 'initiative. Walking around the castle you can meet foxes, hedgehogs and even the rare freshwater crayfish ... a real show.

Too bad that even external access is prevented by the Comine of Rome due to the fall of fragments and rubble, it would need an urgent restoration and safety, immersed in a wonderful park full of history, read its history written by Alessandra Reggi (taken from the Atlas of Cultural Heritage of the Protected Natural Areas of RomaNatura). Casale (or Castle) of the Cervelletta Perched on a tufaceous cliff to control the ancient Collatina and Prenestina streets and the Aniene Valley, the fortified complex of the Cervelletta emerges with its high medieval tower surrounded by massive buildings. According to some scholars, the toponym would be the corruption of the term cervaretto (hence Cervaretta and therefore Cervelletta), deriving from the presence in the territory of deer reserves. Others instead hypothesize a derivation from the Latin acervus (cumulus) for the presence of the nearby Roman quarries (Tor Cervara), where massive heaps were created from the processing and extraction waste of the tuff. The Cervelletta estate was a vast medieval fund of ecclesiastical property, which was before the monastery of S. Tommaso in Formis (bull of Innocent III of 1202) with the denomination of Casale sancti loci, then of the Lateran Basilica and later of the Basilica of S. Lorenzo outside the walls. In the 16th century the land was taken over by the Sforza family who kept it until 1628, when it was purchased by Cardinal Scipione Borghese; this family was responsible for the transformation of the farmhouse into an elegant country residence and the development of its production part. Just in p.37 course of the seventeenth century, in the plans of the Alexandrine Land Registry, the estate appears with the name with which it is now known as Casale della Cervelletta. In 1835 the land passed to the Salviati family, who carried out the reclamation of the territory affected by malaria. The Cervelletta complex today looks like a composite structure, the result of centuries-old stratifications and together with the functional transformations it has undergone: from a fortified system to a business center of a vast agricultural estate and still a stately home. The structure consists of a central body built by the Borghese family, whose family crest stood out until 1950 on the central window of the upper floor; access to the farmhouse takes place through an elegant portal that leads to a porch, which in turn leads to the residential areas and, through an internal courtyard, to the service spaces with stables and barns. On the main floor there is a living room with fireplace, on which the coat of arms of the Salviati family is painted; worthy of note is also the large covered loggia, characterized by two large arched openings. The medieval tower (XII century), crowned by Guelph battlements, is of considerable height (about 30 meters) and has the remains of loopholes and shelves supporting the balconies, indicating the original jurisdiction and lookout function. A chapel dedicated to the Assumption stood instead where today the Church of S. Maria Immacolata is located, erected in 1911 on a design by the Marquis Carlo Lepri. Today, from the hill on which the complex stands, it is possible to perceive its isolation and the progressive siege of buildings and modern urbanization that threaten and progressively modify the ancient landscape, of which the farmhouse represents one of the last and precarious witnesses .

Beautiful, all to be redeveloped From this walkway you get to the farm, where children can see many beautiful hens and geese. From a naturalistic point of view, it certainly offers a lot, too bad it is in a state of neglect. I have not noticed a single fountain, only two three benches, and there is a review for the safety of a hole where water flows underneath, which leaves much to be desired. Too bad, because having a green oasis so close to home and not being able to use it hurts me. Good note: no waste on the ground

Discovering (at least for us! ?) places not too far away and surrounded by greenery, today we visited the Cervelletta park in Rome. Here there is a beautiful castle in ruins and closed due to the risk of collapses and a farm that has many animals for the delight of children (geese, ducks, goats, peacocks, pheasants, roosters and hens) and sells zero-kilometer cultivated products. right inside the park (today at 13 it was closed but it can stay there.) The park itself offers a nice nature walk even by bike (and the photos show it) disturbed, however, by the garbage that protrudes from the rubbish bins and the scarce maintenance. If you go, help this park by bringing your waste back.

Wonderful Boston, a little in a state of neglect, fenced off due to the renovation but which still stands still today, for what reason we do not know !!

It is a castle from the 1800s. Fascinating. It seems to be outside Rome but we are a stone's throw from Tiburtina and Colli ANIENE. In the surroundings there is a very large green area that reaches up to Conca d oro. You can walk for hours among some cultivated fields. It's beautiful.
