Il riscaldamento al massimo durante l'inverno non aiuta nè lettura nè studio - al massimo fa aumentare il rischio di prendersi un malanno grazie anche al sovraffollamento. Gli studenti, poveri loro, si ritagliano uno spazio dove possono persino nei banchi degli addetti quando non ci sono. ottima selezione di ibri in lingua originale. Poorly managed. La Biblioteca Ugo Guanda, fondata alla fine degli anni 70 dalla sig.ra Giovanna è fornitissima di libri e soprattutto di narrativa moderna. È sempre un piacere andarci.... Fantastic place located in the heart of the city with a large park behind the ancient building .. I	Isabella Carbone on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La biblioteca è ottima, i bibliorecari sono competenti e gentili, è in pieno centro, sono disponibili PC, c'è un enorme varietà di libri ed anche una grande sala studio con tanto di macchinette del caffè/merendine e bagni. Tuttavia alcune sale lettura/studio diventano a volte un po chiassose perché vicine all'area dedicata ai bambini. The library is excellent, the librarians are competent and kind, it is in the center, PCs are available, there is a huge variety of books and also a large study room with lots of coffee / snack machines and bathrooms. However, some reading / study rooms sometimes become a bit rowdy because they are close to the area dedicated to children.

È intitolata alla memoria dell'editore Ugo Guandalini, fondatore della casa editrice Guanda che operò a Parma fino al 1965. Nei primi anni ottanta gli eredi Guandalini donano alla biblioteca qualche centinaio di volumi che formano il primo nucleo del fondo Ugo Guanda, costituito dalla raccolta delle edizioni U. Guanda. Nel 1984 la biblioteca è trasferita nei locali del complesso di San Paolo. Fin dall'inaugurazione, la biblioteca adotta il sistema a scaffale aperto applicando la Classificazione decimale Dewey, connotandosi dunque come la prima vera public library della città. The Ugo Guanda municipal library was inaugurated on 15 December 1973 in the underpass of Piazza Garibaldi which had housed the Cobianchi diurnal hotel from 1929 to 1966. It is dedicated to the memory of the publisher Ugo Guandalini, founder of the Guanda publishing house who operated in Parma until 1965. In the early eighties the Guandalini heirs donated a few hundred volumes to the library which form the first nucleus of the Ugo Guanda collection, consisting of the collection of U. Guanda editions. In 1984 the library was moved to the premises of the San Paolo complex. Since its inauguration, the library has adopted the open shelf system by applying the Dewey decimal classification, thus becoming the first true public library in the city.

Unisce una sezione per bambini, ad una classica, e una specializzata in lingue straniere. Sono inoltre disponibili film, audiolibri, riviste e quotidiani. Un reparto dedicato ai giochi in scatola, ai libri di cucina e alla poesia è la ciliegina sulla torta... Ognuno troverà qualcosa di suo interesse. Personale giovane, affabile e disponibile saprà aiutare a trovare quello che cercate. Un unico suggerimento. Collegare in modo stabile e facilmente fruibile il parco di San Paolo con la biblioteca. Diversi tavoli di lettura disponibili, prese di corrente disponibili non sui tavoli ma solo in una o due colonne per sala. Per accedere al prestito è necessario registrarsi al sistema bibliotecario della provincia, dichiarando domicilio o interessi lavorativi in zona. Visitata in un tranquillo sabato prenatalizio, pochissime persone presenti. Two libraries in one: with volumes in a foreign language or traditional sections in Italian.
