★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Es ist schon etwas her, dass ich hier war. Aber die kleine altehrwürdige Taufkirche mit ihren charakteristischen acht Ecken ist mir in guter Erinnerung geblieben. Unbedingt sehenswert.
It's been a while since I was here. But the small, time-honored baptismal church with its characteristic eight corners remains in my memory. Definitely worth seeing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Das Baptisterium ist das achteckige Gebäude neben (!) der Kirche. War hier 2018. Jetzt (09. 2019) ist es wegen dringend notwendiger Restaurierung wohl noch längere Zeit geschlossen.
The baptistery is the octagonal building next to (!) The church. Was here in 2018. Now (09. 2019) it is closed for much longer time due to urgently needed restoration.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Antico battistero di forma ottagonale risalente alla seconda metà del V secolo anche se nei corso dei secoli é stato più volte rimaneggiato fino all'ultima nel 2928 quando si è cercato di riportarlo all'aspetto originario. Togliendo il pavimento Barocco è stato scoperto oltre 2 metri sotto un pavimento musivo del VI secolo, assieme all'altare e al fonte battesimale. Esternamente sono collocati degli antichi sarcofagi romani rinvenuti a Grado.
Ancient octagonal-shaped baptistery dating back to the second half of the fifth century although over the centuries it has been remodeled several times until the last in 2928 when an attempt was made to restore it to its original appearance. Removing the Baroque floor, more than 2 meters under a 6th century mosaic floor was discovered, together with the altar and the baptismal font. Externally there are ancient Roman sarcophagi found in Grado.

Molto interessante e bello a vedere dall'esterno sembrava meno interessante e invece è stata una bella sorpresa forse, secondo me, andava valorizzato di più magari prima dell'entrata in maniera da attirare di più le persone. Comunque ben tenuto e consiglio veramente di andare a vederlo!
Baptistery near the basilica and you can see it for free! Very interesting and beautiful to see from the outside it seemed less interesting and instead it was a nice surprise perhaps, in my opinion, it should have been valued more maybe before the entrance in order to attract more people. However well kept and I really recommend going to see it!
