La badia di San Pietro al Conero sorge a 450 metri d'altezza, quasi alla sommità del monte Conero, compresa nel comune di Sirolo, in provincia di Ancona, nelle Marche.
Eretta a partire dai primi anni del Mille, costituisce un notevole esempio dell'architettura romanica della regione. I camaldolesi rimasero sul Conero fino alla soppressione del monastero nel 1860,
abbandonata con la soppressione del monastero, durante l'Unità d'Italia, oggi ospita un elegante albergo.

The abbey of San Pietro al Conero rises 450 meters high, almost at the top of Mount Conero, included in the municipality of Sirolo, in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region.
Erected from the first years of the 1000, it constitutes a notable example of the Romanesque architecture of the region. The Camaldolese remained on the Conero until the suppression of the monastery in 1860,
abandoned with the suppression of the monastery during the unification of Italy, today it houses an elegant hotel.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Estate al mare nella zona del Sirolo. In un pomeriggio di vento decidiamo di andare a vedere il monte Conero. Arrivati in cima, nello spazio del parcheggio, ci sono auto ovunque ma dopo una breve attesa si libera il posto.
La badia merita di essere visitata anche se una parte di essa è stata trasformata in albergo e quindi proprietà privata, la cripta sotterranea è molto particolare e suggestiva.
Ci sono diversi sentieri che si addentrano nella macchia tra cui quello che porta alla spiaggia delle due sorelle. Se vi va di farlo, nel sentiero, in alcuni punti, ci sono delle aperture nella macchia che consentono di vedere il panorama sottostante veramente bello e mozzafiato, vi servono calzature adeguate perché il sentiero è fatto di ciottoli e sopratutto buone gambe e tempo.
Vale la pena di andarci e di affrontare la sfacchinata, quando tornate il bar ristorante vi aspetta per rifocillarvi.
Summer by the sea in the Sirolo area. On a windy afternoon we decide to go and see Mount Conero. At the top, in the parking space, there are cars everywhere but after a short wait the place becomes free.
The abbey deserves to be visited even if a part of it has been transformed into a hotel and therefore private property, the underground crypt is very particular and suggestive.
There are several paths that go into the bush including the one that leads to the beach of the two sisters. If you want to do it, in the path, in some points, there are openings in the scrub that allow you to see the truly beautiful and breathtaking panorama below, you need suitable footwear because the path is made of pebbles and above all good legs and time.
It is worthwhile to go there and face the trek, when you return the bar restaurant awaits you for refreshment.
