Lasciato il sentiero principale bisogna scendere di qualche decina di metri su un percorso in parte a gradoni, in parte semplice terreno con rami. Giunti sul fondo girare a sinistra e poi al bivio ancora a sinistra. Attenzione, quest'ultima parte è priva di indicazioni e gli arbusti sul sentiero danno l'impressione di non essere nel posto giusto. Raggiunte le grotte prestare attenzione in quanto nel fondo non sono illuminate e ci sono vetri rotti. Qualcuno verrà qui per fare baldoria o per qualche bravata. Per lasciarle così, tanto vale chiuderle. Peccato sarebbero da valorizzare. Interesting, but the site is in a state of abandonment. c	carlo grilli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Grotte Romane: questo è il nome di una cava dalla quale l'Impero Romano estraeva la pietra per le costruzioni in zona. La galleria, interamente scavata in salita per non permettere alle acque piovane di entrare e allagare l'interno, è lunga circa 200 metri e termina in una specie di stanza dove su una delle pareti sembra, ricavato dalla roccia, essere posto un altare. Ora risalirla è impresa difficile e anche pericolosa a causa di frane ed è popolata da una colonia di pipistrelli. Escursione non difficile, sito facile da raggiungere ma da fare con adeguata attrezzatura (scarponcini da trekking); ci si arriva percorrendo sentieri immersi nel bosco, sia partendo dal campo sportivo della frazione del Poggio di Ancona seguendo le segnalazioni del Parco del Conero (circa 20 minuti), sia dal paese di Sirolo e precisamente partendo dalla Trattoria Conerello risalendo e seguendo le segnalazioni che indicano Pian di Raggetti (circa 40 minuti): la cava sta proprio al di là di quello spiazzo. Consiglio di farlo con una guida, io li ho fatto con Passamontagna, in modo da trovare i punti più insoliti come le grotte romane senza perdersi.
