★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very easy to arrive thanks to the escalator/elevator. Perfectly conserved and restored castle. Well kept and clean, the museum worth the visit with nice explanation and recently restored items on display. Some modern art here and there and the castle works as a convention centre too. Disappointed by the restroom, very smelly and not so clean and by the fact you cannot access the fully restored towers and the wall walking path. That was a real bummer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful fortress on top of Spoleto to visit. You can come to it by the walking escalators and elevator from the train station. The part I like is the ring road around the fortress. You get a panoramic view of the old city below and the view of the valley on the other side. Before the earthquake a few years ago, you could walk along the Roman aquiduct near the fortress. The Italians love to take strolls and chat along the ring road.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Outstanding collection contained within the impressive fortress. Great vistas over Spoleto and the surrounding region. Highlights of the collection include works by such masters as Nicolo di Liberatore -l’Alunno, Maestro di Cesi along with the spectacular late-14th century fresco cycles depicting scenes of courtly love and knightly adventures in the Camera Pinta and the Sala d’Onore.
