a view to a kill , but noisy on the street at night

Lots of problems with this flat. When we arrived we had to pay 50 euros for any possible damage which is returned when you leave. On arriving at the flat we found quite a number of items missing and quite a few problems. We were concerned that we could be blamed for these so went straight to the hotel in Syracuse (which is a 30 minute walk away )to report them. Missing items. No remote controls for the tv or air conditioning. No kettle , iron or ironing board. We were given 2 remotes an iron and kettle and had to carry them back to our flat. Damaged items. Flush did not work on the toilet, toilet seat damaged and dangerous. Flush mended that night but toilet seat was never replaced whilst we were there for the 14 days. The fridge door compartment was missing , bottles had to be laid inside so any wine had to have a screw top .This meant taking up room meant for food. We booked a flat so we could do our own cooking but this proved quite a challenge. A louvre from the window was missing (we found it in a drawer a replaced it). There are not enough crockery or pots and pans. The tiniest of frying pan. No wine glasses. There was no information in the flat. Our flat Aretusa was the only one with someone above us. Unfortunately we had 2 adults 3 children and a dog above us for most of our holiday and so we hardly had any quiet time the noise from above was horrendous. We also had to pay 75 euros to have our flat cleaned. 1 room and a bathroom (far too much ) We had 14 days there and our bedding or towels never got changed and there are no facilities to do your own. It boasts a 32 inch tv but it is all in Italian (no sky dish). The restaurant below us Lungomare Cafe had Sardinian Warbler on the menu ! needless to say we did not eat there. It is such a shame the flat is in the best part of Ortigia with very little money all these problems could be sorted out. We could not use the balcony to any extent because the air conditioning unit takes up half the space.
