★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I booked an appartment in Siracusa/Sicily via Booking.com platform. The booking was FULLY PAID and CONFIRMED. Wonderful Italy, however, cancelled my booking and... did not inform me about it at all. I tried to contact them several times for a few days (email/message/whatsup) how to check-in but they did not answer. Finally, I got an answer to my question THE DAY BEFORE MY ARRIVAL that the booking was cancelled. Just like that. They explained that thet contacted booking.com and it was the platform's fault. That is ridiculous because they did not have time to contact me with the information. However, they had time to charge my credit card with full amount of the stay. Dear, "Terrible Italy", if you cancel sb's booking, it would be decent to inform them AND not charge them for the cancelled booking. If I had not asked you about the check-in, I would have arrived in the afternoon and learned that I had no place to sleep. That is not what responsible tourism is about. I travel a lot to Italy and never ever anything like that happened to me before. Absolutely avoid this company.
