★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Villa di Viareggio del Maestro Giacomo Puccini sarà restaurata per festeggiare i 100 anni da quando nel dicembre del 1921, vi si trasferì. La Fondazione Giacomo Puccini ha dato il via all'iter per il restauro dell’ultima dimora del compositore lucchese, con l’incarico conferito all’Arch. Monica Marchetti, che seguirà i lavori.
Giacomo Puccini nel 1915 decise di acquistare un terreno con vista sulla pineta e qualche anno dopo affidò l'incarico di progettare la villa all'architetto Vincenzo Pilotti e all'ingegnere Federigo Severini, entrambi di Pisa. Il Maestro si trasferì nella villa nel 1921 quando la tranquillità di Torre del Lago venne turbata dal frastuono provocato dall'attività delle Torbiere.
Nella Villa di Viareggio il Maestro compose gran parte della sua ultima e incompiuta opera Turandot. A questa villa è legato anche il nome di Galileo Chini: a lui si devono le formelle in gres ceramificato che decorano la facciata della Villa.

Maestro Giacomo Puccini's Villa di Viareggio will be restored to celebrate 100 years since he moved there in December 1921. The Giacomo Puccini Foundation has started the process for the restoration of the last residence of the composer from Lucca, with the assignment given to Arch. Monica Marchetti, who will follow the works.
Giacomo Puccini in 1915 decided to buy land overlooking the pine forest and a few years later he entrusted the architect Vincenzo Pilotti and the engineer Federigo Severini, both from Pisa, with the task of designing the villa. The Maestro moved to the villa in 1921 when the tranquility of Torre del Lago was disturbed by the noise caused by the activity of the peat bogs.
In the Villa of Viareggio the Maestro composed a large part of his last and unfinished opera Turandot. The name of Galileo Chini is also linked to this villa: he is responsible for the ceramic stoneware tiles that decorate the facade of the Villa.
