The perfect place to stay if you are looking to visit Sottomarina. Chioggia is a small fisherman's town. If you plan on traveling there check the dates at the end of July. They have a big festival at the end of July to celebrate the end of the fishing season.

Little Venice in Italy! One of our fave places to visit as a family. If you want to relax and just get fresh air, this is a perfect place for you.

The Vigo bridge is located in Piazzetta di Vigo, easily recognizable by the presence of the column on which the small winged lion stands and can be reached along the entire main street of Chioggia. It represents the balcony of the city and is the most artistic of the eight bridges that span the Canal Vena, the equivalent of the Rialto Bridge in Venice. It was built in masonry in 1685 under the mayor Giovanni Francesco Morosini and embellished in 1762 with Istrian marble, in place of the wooden one, over which they fought bitterly during the Chioggia war (1379-80). At the two entrances to the bridge, on the marble handrail, there are two small Marcian lions, with features very similar to the sculpture called the "gato de ciosa", which stands out on the Column of Vigo. There are some bas-reliefs with depictions of the Virgin Mary, dear to the local population and of the Annunciation. The Saints Fortunato and Felice, the two patrons of the city, are also represented. Once, when there was still no lighting system based on electricity, in the center of the bridge there was a lighthouse of considerable size, which had the task of guiding and orienting any navigators of the beautiful Chioggia lagoon.
