★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Big, old, but not so interesting castle. Only the exhibition of the "kitchen" (not about the kitchen but obout the everyday life of the medieval time) is quite good. There is no english guide: what you can get, on the paper only a few number matches the numbers on the wall. It is something like a joke. The whole castle was a big disapointment for me. By the way the tunel to the castle was quite good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited on a picture perfect day. Every turn of the castle had surprises. From the chaple, the discovery of hidden artifacts uncoverd in the1990s between floors, a separate kids audio tour and the little bottles of beer in the gift shop. It is worth the hike to the castle. Bill

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful castle with a long history dating back to the xii century. Inside there is also a nicely organized and modern museum of local history. Amazing view on the mountains from the castle. Definitely worth it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing historical place with a nice tiny exhibition and a great surrounding to have a relaxing walk around.
Geographically the place belongs to Italy but culturally You can observe the obvious Austrian affect and background.
This place is for those who seek for a relaxing day off, some fresh air and quite and charming place.
Suitable for families, couples and singles travellers also, but consider that the road at some parts is inclined and might be heavy to defeat relatively small distances at this conditions.
Also, the parking places are limited too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Historically important castle (from a Tyroleans view) with nice exhibition inside. Yet the views in autumn alone are reason enough to go there.
Best way to get there would be the "Tappeiner" trail from Merans City Center. There's also a bus going up to the close "Dorf Tirol"
