★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un bel castello di origine duecentesca che mostra evidenti segni di "ristrutturazioni" architettoniche nel corso dei secoli, in particolare quelle di epoca rinascimentale.
Anche Napoleone ha lasciato segni del suo passaggio, radendo al suolo tre cinte di mura medievali.
Dal 1948 il castello è di proprietà della Curia di Udine che ne ha fatto un luogo per ritiri ed esercizi spirituali. Nel 1955 fu costruito il santuario della Madonna Missionaria, che appare alquanto "stonato" stilisticamente rispetto all'antico sito medievale.
Io ho potuto visitarlo perché ho preso parte ad un concerto di musica medievale che si è tenuto in uno dei cortili, ma pare che, malauguratamente, il castello sia normalmente chiuso al pubblico.

Since 1948 the castle has been owned by the Curia of Udine which has made it a place for retreats and spiritual exercises. In 1955 the sanctuary of the Madonna Missionaria was built, which appears somewhat "out of tune" stylistically compared to the ancient medieval site.
I was able to visit it because I took part in a medieval music concert that was held in one of the courtyards, but it seems that, unfortunately, the castle is normally closed to the public.
