The wine is excellent. We visited with friends and the staff was more than accommodating. Highly recommend.

Wow, what a disappointment! I will never buy their wines again. I traveled half way around the world to visit them and not even a basic tasting during regular business hours. Sorry that's just shabby treatment. The only redeeming part of my visit was the woman who helped me purchase a few bottles. She was extremely polite and clearly embarrassed by the situation. An absolute sweetheart. I visited several other wine makers in the area, who quite frankly produce better wine, and was treated like royalty. I just don't understand their attitude. Either don't be open to the public or say specifically in your web site that it's wine sales without tasting.

Tasted the family's fine wines with kind explanation of a beautiful lady. Winery tour on an old Volkswagen van became an unforgettable memory.

This wine producer is a little gem in the area of Gattinara. Run by the enthusiastic owning family (now at the third generation - the founder Giancarlo established the company in 1958), it puts the highest quality in all steps of wine production. We visited the incredibly well-grown vineyards (among other, in a day which allowed us to have a wonderful view of area around, later disclosing Monte Rosa from the clouds) and the cellar, guided by the enthusiastic and highly competent Alessia (one of the founder's nieces). We also experienced an instructive wine tasting of 5 different types of wines. Travaglini Giancarlo main production is based on top quality Gattinara (originated from 100% nebbiolo grapes), comprising the plain Gattinara DOCG (which is per se well above the average of nebbiolo wines), the "riserva" (astonishing for strength and taste) and the delicate "tre vigne" (a special cru from selected vineyards). It also comprises the "entry level" "Cinzia" (named after the daughter of the founder), which is fresher and less formal and can allow "brave" experiments of matching with fish dishes. The productions also includes the "sogno", a remarkable late vintage wine, with some resamblances with the more known "Amarone" of Verona and an astonishing white champagne called "Nebolè", which is a rare case of white sparkling wine created from red grapes nebbiolo. What else? Gluttony is a capital sin, but in my view not visiting this wine producer and not trying its incredible wines is a capital sin, too !!

Great wine, friendly and professional guide and a warm welcome. We were late and the still took the time to give us a tour. A recommendation is to drive to the castle atop the hill afterwards, only 5 minutes extra but well worth the drive.

Understood from internet information that the winery was open on weekdays (appointment required at weekends). Arrived on a Monday and asked to taste before buying. Was told that a reservation was required but a payment of 11 euros per head in cash directly to the member of staff on duty would secure an instant tasting! The tasting was accompanied by informative information from the member of staff and the wines were undoubtedly excellent. I spent over 200 euros on what I hope will be a long lasting and delicious pair of wines. No rebate on the tasting fee was offered.

Great experience with the guided tour and tasting in English with Silvana - she’s very helpful. We bumped into Cinzia, the current owner, a few times and she’s also very friendly and nice. The estate is lovely and wines were wonderful! Silvana provided details about all the wines we tasted as well as the other wines we might be interested in. The tasting was done with Coravin, very professional. Plus the wines were simply wonderful - pure expressions of Nebbiolo. Loved it. Overall, highly recommend it.
