★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Torrione cinquecentesco è connesso al sistema delle mura cittadine. Secondo Teodorico Marino fu costruito dagli spagnoli dopo il 1566, quando Francavilla fu devastata dalle truppe turche di Piyale Pascià. La Torre ebbe una funzione difensiva e di avvistamento contro le scorrerie dei Turchi. Attualmente presenta un cattivo stato di conservazione poiché il sistema di coronamento sta cadendo a pezzi mattone dopo mattone e vi è il rischio reale che si verifichino crolli dalle conseguenze irrimediabili.
 The sixteenth-century tower is connected to the city wall system. According to Teodorico Marino it was built by the Spaniards after 1566, when Francavilla was devastated by the Turkish troops of Piyale Pascià. The tower had a defensive and sighting function against the Turks' raids. It currently has a poor state of conservation since the crowning system is falling apart brick by brick and there is a real risk of collapses with irremediable consequences.
