Dopo la caduta dell’impero romano, dilagarono le popolazioni dei Goti, poi dei Longobardi e dei Franchi e agli inizi del X sec. penetrarono gli Ungari. Perciò l’allora re d’Italia Berengario I°, che nel 905 giunse e si fermò a Torri, fece erigere la cinta muraria di cui rimangono ampi resti e la Torre di Berengario, ora in piazza della Chiesa.
Torri (Tulles) became part of the Roman Empire towards the end of the 1st century. BC: this is confirmed by the discovery of imperial coins and many toponyms still existing such as Le Sorti (sortes) and Il Salto (saltus); the west tower of the Castle and the urban layout of the port and the Trincerò, in the north part of the historic center, would demonstrate this. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the populations of the Goths, then the Lombards and the Franks spread and at the beginning of the tenth century the Hungarians entered. Therefore the then King of Italy Berengario I, who arrived and stopped in Torri in 905, had the walls erected of which ample remains remain and the Torre di Berengario, now in Piazza della Chiesa.
