Must see museum! It is made up of various sections, certainly heterogeneous (but on the other hand, a museum does not necessarily have to be homogeneous), which illustrate the history of the town, but also the passions of some famous Salodians. I really appreciated Giobatta Rini's anatomical collection, the graduals and the part of Roman archeology.

Good to find out about Salo's history. A bit scary the expo at the ground floor.

Excellent and varied gem of a museum. Mussolini to modern art and local and Italian history. Well worth a visit if in the area.

Please recognise the helpfulness of my review, by pressing the LIKE button! We made the drive from Garda to Salo on 18 August 2017. After spending a little time on the lakefront enjoying the scene and the ice cream, we made the museum (MuSa) the focus of our visit. There were a number of exhibitions. The ones which I liked best were the Museum of Madness, the exhibition about Gaspara the violin inventor and the exhibition about Mussolini and the second world war. It was okay to take photographs without flash. The madness exhibition included a painting by Adolf Hitler. It felt really unnerving looking at a painting that he had worked on. None of us liked the painting. The exhibition on Gaspara was relatively small, but it was interesting - Salo claiming that Gaspara was the inventor of the violin. The exhibition about Mussolini and the war was fascinating. It included many sculptures and artwork, posters and photographs. Salo was where Mussolini last ruled Italy albeit as a puppet state, and it was also on Lake Garda where Mussolini met his grisly end. We enjoyed a few hours in the MuSa and we all felt it to be a worthwhile and thought provoking visit.

Very nice surprise. Small museum full of interesting paintings and divers expositions. You need 2 hours at least to see it all. A very interesting expo of Mussolini at the 4 floor. I deeply recommend this museum.

I was very surprised to find such an interesting contemporary exhibition (June 2019: Gnoli, Pesce, Serafini, Arrivabene, Inzerillo) in such a touristic small town, like Salò. The steady collection of Italian Fascist era was also very intersting, since Salò played a big roll at that time. BUT why don't you provide more information in English language? It was really annoying, that I could only understand context by using Google Lens app to translate, e.g. propaganda posters. The English information provided in the audio guide was very little and had no real value ? Please change it, there is so many tourists there and the entrance is 14 EUR, not even in Berlin the big museums cost that much entrance and they provide many more languages.
