★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Questa tomba, di recente scoperta, si trova nella necropoli di Monterozzi e risale al IV secolo a.c.; come quella degli Anina e dei Caronti e tutte quelle dell'età tardo-classica ed ellenistica, è infestata di figure demoniache con le carni bluastre, avvolte da serpenti barbati e dèmoni armati di remi che traghettano i defunti. Qui l'aldilà si materializza sulle rive dell'Acheronte, il più noto dei fiumi dell'antico Epiro che era considerato dai Greci come l'ingresso dell'Oltretomba. Charun dominava l'Acheronte etrusco e non era un semplice traghettatore di anime, ma il dèmone maschile più famoso, armato di un pesante martello utilizzato per conficcare il chiodo simbolo del compimento del destino finale.
This tomb, recently discovered, is located in the necropolis of Monterozzi and dates back to the 4th century BC .; like that of the Anina and the Caronti and all those of the late classical and Hellenistic age, it is infested with demonic figures with bluish flesh, wrapped by bearded snakes and demons armed with oars that ferry the dead. Here the afterlife materializes on the banks of the Acheron, the most famous of the rivers of the ancient Epirus that was considered by the Greeks as the entrance to the underworld. Charun dominated the Etruscan Acheron and was not a simple ferryman of souls, but the most famous male demon, armed with a heavy hammer used to drive the nail, symbol of the fulfillment of the final destiny.
