Vitelleschi (sec. XV) per escludere castello dalla città in fase di espansione e rinnovamento urbanistico. dal camminamento murario che chiude alle ore 12.30 si può ammirare tutta la città, scendendo dalla porta abbiamo la torre circolare e la splendida torre più alta di Tarquinia circa 45 metri, da ammirare e da entrare a visitare Santa Maria di Castello, splendida e romanica.
