Silvestro Silvestori’s Awaiting Table is a fabulous food, wine, cooking, and cultural experience in Lecce, Italy in the Puglia region. It’s a perfect vacation for anyone of any age who is interested in food and wine. Silvestro is the best host who just wants his guests to be happy and to have a good vacation, so he tweaks what he does to your interests. Nevertheless, he knows his audience and has his repertoire perfected. So just sit back, let him take care of everything, and enjoy the ride. I did the weeklong course in which we cooked 1-2 times a day, shopped in the local produce market, and fish market, etc. I learned to make several kinds of pasta, several different sauces, to cook vegetables in new ways, and to cook fish and shellfish. All recipes are very doable for the home cook. In addition, Silvestro has a vast knowledge of wine and teaches a great deal about it. Silvestro also gives you a good feel for the town so you know what you’d like to do if you have extra days in Lecce. One day is field trip day (we went to Oltranto plus some other personalized places along the way), which was a super fun day. I enjoyed meeting the other people in the class. The dinners and endless wine last as long as you’d like into the night in a fun atmosphere. Highly recommend.

My husband and I were students at The Awaiting Table in February 2020, prior to everything in the world going crazy. We can't wait to return, and if all goes well, we will return for 5 fabulous days of pasta making, fresh market shopping, oh my goodness, the vegetables were so fresh they seriously had the morning dew on the greens, daily fresh seafood, freshly ground meats that turned into unbelievable sausages... What an awesome week! Prayers for all battling this horrible virus and prayers for all just trying to keep living ❤️??? Thank you Silvestro, can't wait to see you & Anna again!

We spent a very fun and interesting day with Silvestro and Anna from the Awaiting Table. The 5 hour experience included shopping at the fish and vegetable markets and learning the history of foods in the Puglia region. We not only enjoyed making and eating an amazing meal, we also learned a great deal about the local food and wines. Enjoyable day!

What an amazing experience! The combination of education and fun with this class is unparalleled. The owner operator, Silvestro, teaches the history and customs that have shaped the local cuisine while teaching you low tech methods of preparing the meals. The daily routine of walking to markets, prepping dishes, and enjoying family style meals is a great contrast to the busy American lifestyle. I cannot wait to share these wines and dishes with friends and family. If you are looking for an immersion experience, you will not do better than the The Awaiting Table.
