On the hills overlooking Civitavecchia an ancient spring of hot sulphur water. This thermal spring lays 4km off Civitavecchia and owes its name to a still existing wild fig tree. Next to this source the Etruscans built the town of Aquae Tauri: nowadays that village is lost. The structure offers five large pools and showers of sulphur water, particularly recommended for cicatrisation, dermatitis, arthritis and gastric conditions, as well as for inhalation and mud-bathing. Other facilities available to visitors are a dressing room and a small coffee shop, and all is provided at a very cheap price. Pools are a bit "rural" but definitely clean, they are constantly emptied and cleaned up. A very enjoyable experience, defintely recommended, but: -Towels, bathrobes and scuffs are not available from the staff, so remember to bring your own! -Do not think to go there if it's raining, the entire structure is in the open air. -The staff is absolutely local, and indeed the therms are mostly used by the people of Civitavecchia, so do not expect they to speak English that much. -it is not exactly very well connected from the port. If you want to get there, I suggest you to give a look to our community maintained, volunteer website filled with plenty of useful transport information (Check our G+ profile as any link added to this review would be considered advertising) Admission is €1.50 + the parking ticket if you want to park inside. Be advised that towels and any other bathing appliances are NOT included

Very simple and lots of fun. We drove there with the kids and it was cheap and very authentic, full of locals who seemed like they had come there forever. No one spoke English but we managed and the baths were hot and pleasant. Definitely recommend.

Horribly rude cashier! She was so ignorant that she couldn't understand that American "green pass' looks different than EU "green pass'". Other Italians, including our guide, tried to explain but all she did was yell at them! Don't go!!!!!.
