While visiting Rome, we wanted to treat ourselves to a massage. AcquaMadre was able to fit us in that afternoon. We were spoiled with exceptional personalized service, in a beautiful tranquil setting. Even though our massage threapists didnt speak english they made us feel welcomed and at ease.

I booked a visit at the Aquamadre Hammam for the women’s only night during my trip to Rome. While I was planning the trip, I knew that I would need some relaxation and pampering after a long transatlantic flight and many days of trekking throughout the amazing city that is Rome. Located in the Jewish ghetto part of the city, the hammam is beautiful and totally charming. The staff were kind and professional, and there is always someone to help guide you through the process. You start by changing out of your clothes in the dressing room, and you can either go totally nude or wear some version of a bathing suit - there were women who did both, so just choose your preference. From there, you are led down to the grottos beneath the main building into a beautifully candle lit space. They will hand you a small bowl of soap and ask you to clean your body, and they will pour warm water over you which is so relaxing. From there, you will alternate between the heated steam room and back into the main room which is warm, but less heated. I highly recommend dousing yourself in cold water while you are in the steam room, its very relaxing for the nerves. Once you have had your fill of that, they will lead you to another marble slab where you lay down and they will scrub your body from head to toe - I never felt more clean! Afterwards, you will retreat to a cool pool of water and relax there. If you did not book a treatment, you would then go back upstairs in their lounge room where fresh tea will be waiting for you. I proceeded to have the lavender honey facial done, which was lovely but frankly could have skipped it just because I was already so blissed out from the hammam experience. It did moisturize my weary skin though, which was going bonkers from travel. If you have time afterwards, I would highly recommend going to eat at one of the many kosher restaurants in the area - get the fried artichoke if it is in season! All in all, a wonderful experience and I would definitely do it again if I were in Rome. Budget at least 2 hours for the process from start to finish.

Go during off peak times - easy when you're a tourist while everyone is at work. Check out their website on what to bring and pay attention to ladies only days. Enjoy a relaxing bath after walking all around Rome!

Before arriving I had emailed to see if the stone was hot, they confirmed it was. When I arrived it was barely even warm!!! I paid for an hour and got about 40 minutes. The massage felt like she was barely touching my skin and I had asked her to change it to be harder she said ok but nothing changed. Wouldn’t recommend this place for the price.

Not a good value for money place. Place is clean and nicely located though. I availed of an essential oils massage which was nice and aromatic. First time for me to see cinnamon under the massage bed too. But unfortunately, I found the massage itself to be average. Technique not fluid. Expected more as it wasn’t a cheap place.

Exactly what we needed! So relaxing and rejuvenating. After several exhausting weeks leading up to our wedding, my husband and I needed this badly. We just had the regular hammam with no additional treatments. We were there for about 2-3 hours. The hammam is very clean and the facilities are modern despite the traditional decor. Not touristy at all and seemed like we were the only non locals there. We went on a Thursday morning so it was nice and quiet. Highly recommended if you're looking for something relaxing and different to do in Rome!!

A truly unique experience in Rome! We wanted a taste of how the old Roman bath houses worked and we certainly got it here! The hammam experience was incredible and we would recommend it to anyone visiting the city. We finished off with massages that were some of the best we've ever had. AcquaMadre is an excellent value for what you pay and we'll absolutely be going here again on future visits!

I wish the website had been clearer about needing a swimsuit. I chose the argan oil gold package. First time in a hammam but I love Korean and Japanese bathhouses. This was therapeutic and relaxing but wearing a bikini you start with pouring warm water on yourself, then rubbing soap into your skin, going in and out of a steam room. There wasn't any men at that time but I think there are female only nights. Then came the body scrub, clay facial and body mask. A warm shower and a soak in a slightly chilly pool. The hot herbal tea was nice but I didn't find the waiting room relaxing. Too many people going in and out. The facial and body massage was great but I felt rushed.
