Celebrating my 50th birthday at Lella & Francesco’s indescribably stunning Tenuta (planned by the world’s best husband) kicked off my 5th decade on the perfect note! Crickets chirp quietly amongst manicured olive trees as I sit poolside struggling to find words adequate to describe the last few days. Only Lella & Francesco’s hospitality, warmth and absolute care equals their phenomenally relaxing and well-designed home. In both architecture and hospitality, Lella & Francesco expertly anticipate guest’s needs and comfort. The artisan’s hand shines brilliantly in every detail. No wonder magazines and websites features Tenuta only a few years into its existence. Standard airBnB fare nowadays means extra touches coupled with favorite restaurant recommendations, etc.. Lella went over and above the highest expectations. Lella picked us up from the train station, drove us to pickup/drop off the rental car, booked a mani/pedi at her favorite salon (go - Maria Grazia is a gem), brought us fresh tomatoes, onions, pasta and tuna so we could whip up lunch, brought grapes from their orchard, lent us sweaters to keep us warm during the cool evening temperatures. One afternoon Lella and Francesco invited us to share a wonderful meal at to their home next door. They invited us that night to tour Martina Franca where we ended the night at Garibaldi, their favorite local restaurant, eating fresh porcini mushroom pasta. Yummmmmmmm. We jettisoned our “explore the local area plans” in favor of a stroll in the olive grove, a dip in our private pool, lazing on the outdoor couches, watching the sunrise over the ocean, the sunset over Ostuni and the mountains from our second floor patio... In this setting, time gently passed as I eased into my 50th year. I recommend you open a bottle of their house branded wine, drizzle olive oil from their family farm over fresh pasta and taste all that Southern Italy can offer one bite at a time. We’ll miss fluorescent Donald Duck. AhhhPuglia….Bellisima.
