Beautiful church with a profound historical significance. Very well kept, little frequented and set in one of the unknown and suggestive corners of the city.

M	Marco Rossetti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sorto sulle ceneri dell’antica chiesa di Santa Maria di Sudorno, l’edificio venne realizzato a partire dal 21 marzo 1915, un anno dopo l’acquisizione dei terreni da parte di un comitato cittadino che si era costituito per la costruzione di un nuovo luogo di culto nell’area. L’entrata in guerra dell’Italia poche settimane dopo spinse i promotori dell’iniziativa a dedicare il luogo di culto ai soldati caduti per la patria, una decisione che venne confermata in occasione della cerimonia di consacrazione avvenuta il 6 agosto 1916. Lo stile lombardo applicato all’esterno dall’ingegnere Camillo Galizzi è visibile nella presenza del rosone centrale e degli archetti medievali accanto a una punta d’innovazione inserita dall’artista nel campanile rotondeggiante dotato di finestroni e cuspide rivolta verso il cielo. La parte interna è invece caratterizzata dalle 140 lapidi commemorative che richiamano alla memoria i nomi dei numerosi cittadini orobici scomparsi durante i due conflitti mondiali e dei membri delle forze dell’ordine morti in servizio. Ad esse si aggiungono infine anche la presenza della tomba del generale Giovanni Marieni, unico ad esser tumulato all’interno dello stabile, e della pala d’altare attribuita ad Enea Salmeggia e raffigurante Gesù in compagnia di Maria e Sant’Anna. Built on the ashes of the ancient church of Santa Maria di Sudorno, the building was built starting on March 21, 1915, one year after the acquisition of the land by a city committee that was formed for the construction of a new site of worship in the area. Italy's entry into the war a few weeks later prompted the promoters of the initiative to dedicate the place of worship to fallen soldiers for their homeland, a decision that was confirmed at the consecration ceremony on 6 August 1916. The Lombard style applied to the outside by the engineer Camillo Galizzi is visible in the presence of the central rose window and the medieval arches next to a tip of innovation inserted by the artist in the rounded bell tower with large windows and spire facing the sky. The internal part is instead characterized by 140 commemorative plaques that recall the names of the numerous Orobic citizens who disappeared during the two world wars and of the members of the police who died in service. Finally, there is also the presence of the tomb of General Giovanni Marieni, the only one to be buried inside the building, and the altarpiece attributed to Aeneas Salmeggia and depicting Jesus in the company of Mary and Saint Anne.

Maria di Sudorno”, il cui terreno venne acquistato un anno prima da un comitato cittadino costituitosi al fine di avere un luogo di culto in tale zona. Si pensò di dedicarlo ai caduti della guerra appena scoppiata poche settimane dopo l’inizio della costruzione. Custodisce 140 lapidi di entrambe le guerre. All’interno la vecchia pala della precedente chiesa medioevale. Built between pains and sacrifices in 1915, above the previous church “S. Maria di Sudorno ”, whose land was purchased a year earlier by a city committee set up in order to have a place of worship in this area. It was thought to dedicate it to the fallen of the war that just broke out a few weeks after the start of construction. It houses 140 tombstones from both wars. Inside the old altarpiece of the previous medieval church.

w	way fairer on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Some sort of old Byzantine church. Very nice the exterior, not the same for interior because its wall are full of funereal plates honoring fallen soldiers. Very much if respect to them but this make the whole a little bit sad.
