G	Georges Yorgos Abou Malhab on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ieri ho visitato questo luogo incantato della Campagna, un bel lavoro fatto di restauro per una reliquia sannitica rara. Il santuario di Pietravairano, insieme a quello molisano di Pietrabbondante, rappresentano un raro esempio di tempio a tre celle in ambiente sannitico, di epoca tardo-repubblicana (II-I secolo a.C.): sono la testimonianza materiale della conquista romana del territorio della Campania settentrionale. Del teatro, posto a una ventina di metri più in basso, si conservano la cavea semicircolare, ricavata sfruttando il pendio naturale della collina, e la scaena (la struttura dov’era rappresentata la scenografia) situata lungo il margine meridionale della terrazza, rinforzata da quattro torrette. La cavea ha uno sviluppo lineare di circa 800 metri e si suppone avesse una capienza non superiore ai 2.000 posti a sedere. Yesterday I visited this enchanted place of the Campagna, a beautiful restoration job done for a rare Samnite relic. The sanctuary of Pietravairano, together with the Molise one of Pietrabbondante, represent a rare example of a temple with three cells in a Samnite environment, of the late Republican period (II-I century BC): they are the material testimony of the Roman conquest of the territory of northern Campania . Of the theater, located about twenty meters below, the semicircular cavea, obtained by exploiting the natural slope of the hill, and the scaena (the structure where the scenography was represented) located along the southern edge of the terrace, are preserved. four turrets. The cavea has a linear development of about 800 meters and is supposed to have a capacity not exceeding 2,000 seats.

Rimodernato in tutto (sembra fatto ex novo). Beautiful view ... The path leading to the temple is dangerous (it should be stepped). Without parking and signage ... Completely modernized (it seems to be made from scratch).

Purtroppo le carenze dei servizi, della sentieristica e dei parapetti lignei sono molto pregiudizievoli al punto di renderne pericolosa la fruizione. Nei fatti il sito è in stato d'abbandono. Dispiace ma quando non si è in grado di provovvedere alla progettazione e alla successiva manutenzione di un bene pubblico, occorre passare la mano. The place is truly beautiful from an archaeological and landscape point of view. Unfortunately, the lack of services, paths and wooden parapets are very detrimental to the point of making their use dangerous. In fact, the site is in a state of neglect. Sorry but when you are not able to provide for the design and subsequent maintenance of a public good, you need to pass the hand.

De omgeving en het fenomenale uitzicht maken het wel meer dan de moeite waard om hier even langs te gaan. Little of the amphitheater remains authentic, it has been restored with great enthusiasm. The surroundings and the phenomenal view make it more than worth a visit.

Avevo letto qualche recensione,ma sono voluto andare di persona a controllare:sembra davvero essere stato costruito di recente,non hanno conservato quasi nulla dell’anfiteatro originale. Unica nota positiva la vista mozzafiato a 360 gradi dalla quota 409 metri del monte San Nicola dove è posizionato l’anfiteatro. Molta sporcizia sia lungo il sentiero che porta all’anfiteatro sia nei pressi dello stesso. Non una delle migliori esperienze,siccome ci sono ancora dei lavori in corso spero che le cose migliorino,è davvero un peccato non sfruttare queste meraviglie che il nostro territorio continua a regalarci. A “strange” restoration, not to mention badly done! I had read some reviews, but I wanted to go and check it out in person: it really seems to have been built recently, almost nothing of the original amphitheater has been preserved. The only positive note is the breathtaking 360-degree view from the 409 meters of Mount San Nicola where the amphitheater is located. A lot of dirt both along the path leading to the amphitheater and near it. Not one of the best experiences, as there are still works in progress I hope things improve, it is really a shame not to exploit these wonders that our territory continues to give us.

Komplett restauriertes Amphitheater- ich mag es lieber wenn nicht alles komplett restauriert und an die Neuzeit angepasst ist. Deswegen nur vier Sterne. Ich empfehle trotz gepflegtem Weg festes Schuhwerk. Small but steep climb. Stunning view from above. Completely restored amphitheater- I prefer it if not everything is completely restored and adapted to the modern times. That's why only four stars. I recommend despite the well-kept way fixed footwear.
