★ ★ ★ ★ ★ E' la stazione ormai dismessa da tempo della funicolare che univa (una volta) Varese al Campo dei Fiori (montagna delle Prealpi che sovrasta Varese e dalla quale è possibile vedere il panorama dei cinque laghi) ed all'osservatorio astronomico. La funzione originaria era quella di poter agevolmente raggiungere la zona dei grandi alberghi, molto frequentati dalla ricca borghesia, ormai abbandonati ed in progressiva decadenza . Definire affascinante tale zona è forse riduttivo, data la piacevolezza ed il panorama circostante. Della stazione, ormai abbandonata ed in rovina si salva solo più la scala (al servizio della funicolare) ripristinata, grazie ad un privato, alcuni anni fa ed utilizzata come alternativa sportiva per salire al già detto Campo dei Fiori, dati i suoi oltre 2000 scalini (dicono, per chi ha voglia di provare a contarli). Bellezza commovente, ma quanta pena per l'abbandono
