The current parish of St. Lawrence Martyr was born from the unification of the two existing parishes in Tavullia (St. Michael the Archangel in the castle and St. Lawrence Martyr outside the castle) commissioned by the Bishop Mons. Gaetano Michetti with a decree dated June 7th 1986. Both had ancient origins, but it is not known when and by whom they were founded, however they both appear in the apostolic visit of 1574 made by Ragazzoni and in subsequent pastoral visits. The parish church, erected under the title of San Lorenzo Martire, is placed in a flat space away from said castle a quarter of a mile. At the end of the nineteenth century, it was in a state of grave antiquity and not too reassuring. In 1930, the Civil Engineers ordered its closure for worship and demolition, because by now it was "old and falling". On 10 July 1930, the Sacred Congregation of the Council granted the Bishop the faculty to permit the alienation of beneficiary properties, based on an agreement already obtained by the Civil Authority, in order to provide, together with the contribution of the Municipality and the participation of the faithful, to the construction of the new parish building complex. Therefore, in the years 1930-1931, the new church was built, but the cost was about one third higher than the budgeted sum, so it became necessary and urgent to alienate other beneficiary assets with the authorization of both the Civil Authority and the Sacred Congregation of the Council, granted the latter on December 20, 1937. In 1952, the Sacred Congregation of the Council always communicated the assent for other patrimonial alienation and communicated the concession, through the Office of Parish Houses of the Holy See, of a contribution to cover the residual debts and, two years later, on 13 July 1954, granted new authorization to contract a loan of Lire 5,000,000, to cover the debts that were returned to being recurrent. On September 19, 1962, the parochial benefit, again with the required authorizations, alienated another beneficiary asset - the Podere San Lorenzo - to cover other debts contracted rashly for the same construction. It houses the body of Saint Pio Martyr, extracted from the Catacomb of San Calepodio in Rome. Several paintings of great artistic interest are also preserved.

The parish in Tavullia looks good, it is located immediately after the town center in the direction of San Giovanni in Madignano. The tree-lined avenue that precedes the territory where the church is located, has a good space to park cars in order to participate in religious services. The interior of the church is well made, with sacred images attached.

Well maintained, with a well inspired, active, communicative parish priest, excellent choir that accompanies Masses, and ceremonies, sacristy and large meeting room.
