The Church of Portacomaro ... still needs some tweaks and maybe something that reminds Pope Francis ... it would not hurt!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Parrocchiale di Portacomaro è dedicata a San Bartolomeo. La Chiesa, che sorge all’interno dell’antico ricetto, risale al XVI secolo. Alla fine del secolo successivo fu ricostruita sul sito della precedente. Nel 1870 l’edificio fu ampliato, fu costruito il campanile e la facciata assunse l’attuale aspetto neobarocco. La facciata si presenta con due ordini di lesene che inquadrano il portale e l’oculo mistilineo. Il timpano, a sesto ribassato, ospita al centro una piccola nicchia. All’interno è conservato l’altare settecentesco in marmi policromi e l’imponente altare in legno dorato e dipinto, della seconda metà del Seicento dedicato alla Madonna del Rosario.
The Parish Church of Portacomaro is dedicated to San Bartolomeo. The Church, which stands within the ancient shelter, dates back to the 16th century. At the end of the following century it was rebuilt on the site of the previous one. In 1870 the building was expanded, was built the bell tower and facade acquired its present neo-baroque appearance. The facade has two orders of pilasters that frame the portal and the mixtilinear oculus. The tympanum, with a depressed arch, houses a small niche in the center. Inside, the eighteenth-century altar in polychrome marble and the imposing gilded and painted wooden altar from the second half of the seventeenth century dedicated to the Madonna del Rosario are preserved.
