J	Jose L Garcia on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place was awesome. The leather school has so many leather goods to choose from, and I think their prices are reasonable. As others have stated, you can see students here learning how to produce finished leather goods like jackets, bags, belts, wallets, etc. It was here, that I found my perfect Florentine leather jacket and loved it as soon as I saw it the first time. Of course, it is the one I posted on here. The jacket had a list price of 410 euros but the great thing about it is that if you subtract the VAT refund at the airport plus the free same-day sleeve alterations you get at the school (if you need the jacket sleeves shortened), it was the equivalent of about 90-100 euros in savings. That is quite significant. I used those savings to buy a pair of nice Italian leather shoes. Anyway, I also bought a nice reversible (black/brown) leather belt at the school, for about 30 euros, I think. Regarding the shop staff, the young sales guy that was helping me, wasn't very friendly but he did his job. However the young lady who helped me with the final transaction and explained the VAT refund at the airport was very cute, kind and helpful. If I remember correctly, she was from Venezuela. ;) Anyway, in the end I was so happy and delighted with my purchases, and if I manage to make it back to Florence someday, I will definitely go to the School of Leather first, and buy leather goods again. I highly, highly recommend this excellent leather shop!

The staff here were incredibly friendly, helpful and informed us of the tanning process; they take great pride in their craft and is one of the few practices left in the region and probably around the globe. Making your purchase here is worry free, you support the local economy and proceeds go to supporting orphan children.

Lovely Beatrice was so amazing imparting us the history how this Italian leather lab began and up to the present. With the people around made us so comfortable as we did our short course in the leather making. Thank you.
G	Georges Younes on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Scuola del Cuoio is a great idea for a tourist attraction, but barely manages to be more than that. Its location is picturesque, right behind the convent of Santa Croce. It gave me the opportunity to take some good shots of the back of the convent's church.

As you keep walking though, you see the school and the steps for the store. I’m so glad we kept walking! So many beautiful things and then taking time some time to watch them craft some of the leather goods! Definitely a must see.

Embossing was included in the price and you were able to see it done in-person. This particular shop has had a number of high-profile customers (popes, presidents, royalty) and so I found the prices reasonable when compared to other shops in Firenze. Be aware that VAT refunds are 12% and apply only to transactions over €155 in total (a threshold which applies to leather goods in particular).
