Gli scavi sono chiusi, magari un cartello sarebbe utile. girando attorno alla zona recintata si riesce a scorgere qualcosa dei resti romani fra ulivi e mandorli della campagna circostante. Il paesaggio è favoloso. Girando dall'altra parte della strada asfaltata si trova un sentiero fra i campi che porta fino all'abside dell'incompiuta. Tornerò / torneranno tempi migliori. It will certainly be the pandemic period, but the whole area appears somewhat neglected ... The excavations are closed, maybe a sign would be useful. turning around the fenced area you can see something of the Roman remains among the olive and almond trees of the surrounding countryside. The landscape is fabulous. Turning on the other side of the asphalted road you will find a path between the fields that leads to the apse of the unfinished. I will come back / better times will come back.

Ingresso 2.50 a persona, veramente conveniente. Very interesting archaeological park, from the Roman era, where the thermal baths, the domus, the residential area and a church called the Incompiuta are identified, which must have been built on a sacred place during the 1100s but which was not completed. Venosa è stato un importante centro commerciale e termale, e lo si vede dai numerosi visibili resti. Si può immaginare però che l'area archeologica sia di gran lunga superiore (alla luce delle numerose necropoli e tombe ritrovate in varie zone limitrofe: Lavello, Palazzo San Gervaso) e confidiamo che ci sia un impulso a continuare gli scavi, nel sito ma soprattutto al di fuori del recinto. Risibile il prezzo del biglietto di Eur 2,50, considerando che si può poi entrare al Castello. Indicazioni però limitate, alcune delle quali cancellate dal sole in alcuni punti esterni. Venosa was an important commercial and spa center, and can be seen from the numerous visible remains. However, we can imagine that the archaeological area is far superior (in light of the numerous necropolises and tombs found in various neighboring areas: Lavello, Palazzo San Gervaso) and we trust that there is an impulse to continue excavations, in the site but above all outside the enclosure. The ticket price of Eur 2.50 is laughable, considering that you can then enter the Castle. However, limited indications, some of which are canceled by the sun in some external points.

Poi ci sono si reca all'ingresso del sito archeologico, dove, dopo aver fatto il biglietto ed esibito il Green Pass, si entra e si vedono le antiche vestigia della città romana e si arriva poi all'Incompiuta. La chiesa non prevede alcun biglietto. Per le rovine romane e l'antica chiesa, pochissimo 9€ in 4, 2 adulti e 2 minori di 18 anni. After parking right in front, you enter the church of the Holy Trinity, discovering only by looking at its incredible evolution over time. Then there are goes to the entrance of the archaeological site, where, after having bought the ticket and exhibited the Green Pass, you enter and see the ancient vestiges of the Roman city and then arrive at the Incompiuta. The church does not provide any tickets. For the Roman ruins and the ancient church, very little € 9 for 4, 2 adults and 2 children under 18.

Mi permetto di scrivere tutto qui riguardante cmq le norme anticovid...qui, come in tutti gli altri siti, musei e luoghi di cultura.il green pass risulta obbligatorio. Oppure un tampone che attesti o la guarigione o l'immunità provvisoria. Beautiful Archaeological site in Lucania ... From the attached photos you can realize the quality it offers ... I would like to write everything here regarding the anticovid rules ... here, as in all other sites, museums and places of culture .the green pass is mandatory. Or a swab attesting to either healing or temporary immunity.
I	Ilario Bonomi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Area archeologica affascinante e ben documentata (tranne la parte sulla chiesa abbaziale incompiuta, dove si sarebbe potuto fare molto di più, analogamente a quanto si è fatto per la parte archeologica), comprendente le terme, diverse domus di varie dimensioni, un anfiteatro (dall'altra parte della strada, purtroppo non visitabile), un episcopio paleocristiano con due fonti battesimali, botteghe, diverse vie pavimentate, e appunto l'accesso alla chiesa abbaziale incompiuta, con i suoi splendidi capitelli di spoglio e le sue strutture incomplete e solenni. Da non perdere per nessuna ragione (attenzione agli orari di apertura che sono piuttosto bislacchi per un'area archeologica...noi abbiamo dovuto aspettare le 17 perché aprissero). Il biglietto è comune con il museo archeologico (e c'è il cumulativo con il museo archeologico di Melfi). Fascinating and well documented archaeological area (except for the part on the unfinished abbey church, where much more could have been done, similarly to what was done for the archaeological part), including the baths, several domus of various sizes, an amphitheater (from other part of the road, unfortunately not open to visitors), an early Christian episcope with two baptismal fonts, shops, several paved streets, and precisely the access to the unfinished abbey church, with its splendid bare capitals and its incomplete and solemn structures. Not to be missed for any reason (pay attention to the opening hours which are rather bizarre for an archaeological area ... we had to wait until 5pm for them to open). The ticket is shared with the archaeological museum (and there is the cumulative ticket with the archaeological museum of Melfi).
A	Automatos Bios on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ruins of Roman residential complex (I-IV. century) with baths and arena (located on the other side of the modern road, outside of archeological area) On top of it, remains of unfinished medieval cathedral where mostly ancient stones were used. Interessting and really inspiring place with some nicely preserved mosaics. Notes and information also in english although, sadly most of them unreadable
