★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Si vede solo la parte esterna, visto che la chiesa è ben chiusa senza alcuna indicazione di possibili aperture. Interessante il portale frontale e il campanile, con sarcofagi e iscrizioni romane di spoglio.
Only the external part can be seen, since the church is well closed with no indication of possible openings. The front portal and the bell tower are interesting, with sarcophagi and Roman inscriptions.

Altrettanto il Museo Vescovile: peccato per la sua fruibilità assai limitata... praticamente a singhiozzo o su faticosa prenotazione e comunque grazie esclusivamente alla buona volontà di alcune tra le persone nelle foto. A queste va il mio plauso ed apprezzamento incondizionato.
The Basilica is splendid. Equally the Episcopal Museum: a pity for its very limited usability ... practically in fits and starts or on tiring booking and in any case thanks exclusively to the good will of some of the people in the photos. To these goes my unconditional applause and appreciation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Protetta da un reticolo di stradine tortuose la cattedrale si inserisce bene nel contesto cittadino. Naturalmente il campanile la fa da padrone sia come struttura che come punto di riconoscimento visibile da tutto il contado.
La cattedrale stessa è una struttura molto complessa che ha visto passare su di sé parecchie epoche. Le attuali forme romaniche sono state integrate soprattutto in periodo barocco. Peccato che il museo diocesano sia chiuso causa covid.
Protected by a network of winding streets, the cathedral fits well into the city context. Naturally the bell tower is the master both as a structure and as a point of recognition visible from all over the countryside.
The cathedral itself is a very complex structure that has seen several eras pass over it. The current Romanesque forms were integrated especially in the Baroque period. Too bad the diocesan museum is closed due to covid.
