Il luogo è comunque tranquillo ed adatto alla meditazione. The sanctuary was built in the middle of the Middle Ages but was recently renovated without respecting its original appearance. L	Lorenzo Colistra on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Santuario fu costruito nel 1020 e secondo la leggenda venne costruito in segno di ringraziamento per aver salvato la gente dalle invasioni dei Saraceni. Ma un'altra leggenda narra che la Madonna apparve ad una suora e disse di condurre i lebbrosi in una "cona" dove poi verranno guariti con dell'acqua miracolosa. Dopo ciò, si decise di costruire una chiesetta a valle (dove attualmente è situata una piccola edicola votiva, sulla salita al Santuario), ma durante le notti le pietre per la costruzione si spostavano su una collina (dove si trova attualmente la chiesa). Inizialmente si pensò a un furto ma poi si resero conto che era volere della Madonna e la mattina dopo trovarono le pietre a forma di perimetro. Perciò il Santuario venne costruito lì, in contrada Dipodi (dal greco "due podos" "due piedi", in questo caso "due colline" infatti in una collina è costruito il Santuario e in un altra una casa di spiritualità. Il giorno 14 agosto 2019, oggi, si apre la Porta Santa in occasione del millenario del santuario la cui fondazione risale al 1020.
