I'm not religious but I think place is a must see while visiting Palermo. There are even buses going there, place is free and open until late (been there at almost 8pm). Beautiful views on the way there

Information for people planning to visit by bus - the 812 bus didn’t show up at the stop we were planning to get it from, we think it’s visiting fewer stops. The 812 sign from the top of the hill has the first few stops in Palermo crossed out. So you may want to get it from one of the un-crossed out stops. But can confirm it does exist as it passed us as we walked up the hill.

Golden Saint protector of Palermo. It's a really historical place . The people of Palermo strongly believe in their Saint. The sanctuary is really beautiful. From outside it looks like a man build structure, but when you enter you see a beautiful cave with some amazing views . It's a must visit place on Monte Pellegrino.

Cool place. Take the bus for the views-it'll be the best €1.40 you'll ever spend, although they can be scheduled over an hour apart. The shrine is lovely. Be aware there is nothing else to do there, unless you're a hiker. A couple of food joints and souvineer stands. There were very few people on a weekday in November. It's rather small and I can imagine it filling quickly and dampening the experience.

A very short visit, but a unique place! Take bus 812 from Palermo. The bus will stop here for 10-20 mins, then you can either take the same bus back to the city, or hike back..

The patron saint of Palermo has a chapel here in a grotto where her body was discovered. It's high above Palermo on Mount Pellegrino with views to the east. When I was here in May, 2022, the steps to the view point were closed. But there is a nice view just a about 200 meters from the sanctuary plaza, northeast on Via Monte Ercta. You might have to bushwack a bit through some weeds to get to the shrine on the peak of Mount Pellegrino.

There are buses that run up the mountain, but you should pack a water bottle and make the hike up to the sanctuary instead - it's worth it for the views, and makes reaching the sanctuary that much more satisfying!

To get there you have to take bus number 812 (be careful - hours of departure are +/- 30 minutes ?). Views from the bus are really impressive! From the bus it takes 2 minutes by walk and you can see a beatiful Sanctuary hidden in a cave. Also nearby (10 minutes walking) is a viewpoint where you can see the whole city of Palermo.
