All’epoca della sua edificazione il borgo di Prè, al di fuori delle mura cittadine ospitava, come altri edifici sorti nelle vicinanze, viaggiatori e pellegrini di passaggio da Genova. La prima edificazione avvenne per celebrare l’alleanza navale dei genovesi e pisani vittoriosi contro la flotta araba. Oggi percorrendo Via Prè, è facile non accorgersi della presenza di questa chiesa, stretta tra gli edifici del centro storico, ma vale la pena cercarla e visitarla. Questa piccola chiesa è armoniosa e proporzionata ed offre un luogo di pace dalla confusione e dal rumore circostante. Il patrimonio artistico e culturale merita di essere visitato. Eppure ha una storia importante: costruita nel Medioevo, nel 19emo secolo diventò cappella di famiglia dei Savoia, con tanto di collegamento al palazzo Reale scavalcando la via di Prè (dove si trova la facciata principale della chiesa, letteralmente "ruotata" rispetto all'edificio originale). Uno dei tanto posti da scoprire nel capoluogo ligure. One of the surprises of the historic center of Genoa, a small and inconspicuous church, despite the dome, and almost crushed by the other buildings on the street. Possiamo trovare al suo interno, una Madonna bambina, cosa molto rara. Molto interessante è la Sala Regia, dove venivano ad ascoltare la Messa i Savoia dal vicino Palazzo Reale collegato alla Chiesa. Voglio ringraziare il Parroco, persona squisita, che ci ha permesso di fare un bel servizio fotografico e ci ha aperto la Sala Regia in un periodo in cui era chiusa. Si trova nel centro storico di Genova, quasi nascosta fra le case, sul lato a mare di via Prè, che nel Medioevo era la strada principale di accesso alla città dalla parte di ponente.....Il recente restauro ha riportato l’edificio al suo originario splendore...L’edificio è a un’unica navata, sulla quale si affacciano quattro cappelle...La chiesa di San Sisto custodisce un patrimonio religioso, culturale e artistico che merita di essere visitato The church of San Sisto is an authentic jewel of neoclassical architecture, notable for its uniqueness and stylistic harmony.
