One of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval churches in the historic center of Genoa, almost completely intact despite the damage of the bombing of 1684, but little known because it is located in one of the less "beaten" itineraries by tourists. The façade restored between 2008 and 2010 is remarkable, with the only Cosmatesque mosaic (but the saint of the church has nothing to do with it) in the whole Ligurian capital

A Romanesque-style gem from the year 1000. Sometimes the small port overlooking the right transept is open and you can enter to visit the church, usually empty and shrouded in half-light. It is a very intimate and peaceful place, certainly to be discovered in the heart of the alleys

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La più antica chiesa di Genova costruita nell'Italia secolo si trova quasi nascosta nel centro storico, stretta nei "caruggi" che quasi la nascondono alla vista. Il recente restauro l'ha riportata al suo aspetto il più possibile fedele a come era in origine: niente impianto di riscaldamento, nè di amplificazione. Un esempio di romanico sopravvissuto a bombardamenti e all'usura del tempo.
The oldest church in Genoa built in Italy in the century is found almost hidden in the historical center, narrow in the "caruggi" which almost hide it from view. The recent restoration has brought it back to its appearance as faithful as possible to how it was originally: no heating system, nor amplification. An example of Romanesque that survived bombing and wear and tear over time.
