★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited the cloisters, and the ones of the Monastero di San Giovanni Evangelista are wonderful. Unfortunately you can't see all of them, but those that are free for the public are really nice. There's no entrance fee, but you can donate something before or after entering the cloisters.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well worth seeing for the library, which has fascinating decoration. The opening times on the tourist office website and displayed outside the monastery are every day except Thursday and Sunday, open mornings and afternoons but closed for a long lunchbreak. However we found that the library was only open in the mornings (until 11.45), and the apothecary (which we did not see) is only open on Saturdays. No entrance fee but a voluntary donation is encouraged.
