★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa di San Giovanni Battista occupa una parte della bella piazzetta principale nel cuore del borgo. In essa è allestito il Museo Sistino con gli oggetti donati dal Pontefice Sisto V che a Grottammare nacque. In occasione della mia visita la chiesa era chiusa, un laconico cartello sulla porta avvertiva i visitatori che a causa dei furti subiti la chiesa veniva aperta solo durante la funzione religiosa della domenica mattina.
The church of San Giovanni Battista occupies a part of the beautiful main square in the heart of the village. It houses the Sistine Museum with the objects donated by Pope Sixtus V who was born in Grottammare. On the occasion of my visit the church was closed, a laconic sign on the door warned visitors that due to the thefts, the church was only open during the religious service on Sunday morning.
