L’edificio è formato da tre luoghi di culto, perché all’interno è collocata una cappella della Madonna di San Giovanni e una cripta della Misericordia e Morte. La struttura fu progettata dall’architetto Gaspare Guerra alla fine del’500. La facciata in mattoncini è divisa da tre portali e fu realizzata nel XIX secolo dall’architetto Giuseppe Rossetti, il campanile venne costruito nel 1902 da Francesco Vespignani, il quale collocò in cima una statua in rame del Redentore alta 7 metri, della fonderia Luigi Del Bo di Milano, e quattro campane. Entrati veniamo accolti in uno spazio a croce latina diviso da tre navate, notiamo la fine decorazione pittorica del pittore Michelangelo Bedini, il coro ligneo dei canonici del’600, la statua di gesso di San Gregorio realizzata da Fedele Bianchini discepolo di Canova e molte altre tele.
