Patrimonio dell'UNESCO è un sito dal fascino suggestivo. Merita un giro per ogni cappella, con sosta nei punti panoramici su Varallo e tutta la Vallata. Unico neo è la presenza di scritte dei cosiddetti turisti, che purtroppo depauperano il valore delle molteplici opere presenti nelle cappelle. Place of religious interest full of historical references that has always attracted the attention of many tourists, coming almost everywhere. UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a site with a suggestive charm. It deserves a tour of each chapel, with stops at the panoramic points of Varallo and the whole valley. The only drawback is the presence of writings by so-called tourists, which unfortunately impoverish the value of the many works in the chapels.

Le sue quarantaquattro cappelle si snodano in un sentiero in mezzo al bosco che dalla prima cappella ci conduce alla nascita di Gesù sino alla Basilica della Madonna. Con le sue oltre ottocento statue e dipinti si rappresentano e rendono partecipe il visitatore ai momenti più importanti della vita di Gesù. Quest’Opera rappresenta la realizzazione del sogno di Padre Bernardino Caimi che al suo ritorno dalla Terra Santa nel 1481 vuole creare una Nuova Gerusalemme che faccia rivivere nel visitatore la vita del Cristo. Tanti artisti tra cui il Valsesiano Gaudenzio Ferrari, prelati come San Carlo Borromeo, signori come il duca Francesco Sforza contribuirono alla realizzazione di questo sogno nei secoli successivi. E veramente il pellegrino durante il suo cammino si immerge in un’atmosfera che lo trasporta in altri luoghi e altri tempi e gli fanno rivivere il dramma umano di Gesù attraverso ambienti, costumi e personaggi che sembrano muoversi e rivivere attorno a lui. The wonderful Sacro Monte rises on a hill above Varallo in Valsesia. Its forty-four chapels wind along a path in the woods that from the first chapel leads us to the birth of Jesus up to the Basilica of the Madonna. With its more than eight hundred statues and paintings, the visitor is represented and participated in the most important moments in the life of Jesus. This work represents the realization of the dream of Father Bernardino Caimi who, upon his return from the Holy Land in 1481, wants to create a New Jerusalem. which makes the life of Christ relive in the visitor. Many artists including the Valsesian Gaudenzio Ferrari, prelates such as San Carlo Borromeo, lords such as Duke Francesco Sforza contributed to the realization of this dream in the following centuries.
