Bellissimo, tenuto discretamente, peccato che i turisti talvolta rovinano la pace del luogo. Partendo dall'abitato di Daunei si imbocca il percorso della Via Crucis, le cui stazioni sono costituite da sculture in legno opera di artisti locali e che conduce sino all'accesso della Vallunga. È un tracciato semplice, adatto a famiglie e percorribile con il passeggino, che domina dall'alto Selva. Il sentiero verso le rovine si presenta a tre quarti del percorso ed è invece di tutt'altra natura: si inerpica sul pendio, prima in mezzo al bosco e poi su una pietraia. È breve (non più di 10 minuti), ma ripido e sdrucciolevole. Si può avvicinarsi alle rovine del castello, ma l'accesso alla struttura è al momento vietata. Ciò nonostante ne vale comunque la pena, perché ciò che resta, la difficoltà del sentiero, la solitudine di un luogo che spazia la vista su una valle particolarmente frequentata, è una suggestione di un tempo che fu da portarsi con sè, scendendo tra quelle stesse persone osservate dall'alto. Non è complicato, ma la particolarità che mi intriga è la sua costruzione, parte integrante della montagna, tanto da confondersi nel contesto e sembrarne un'appendice. Giunto alla méta, non ho resistito, ho chiuso gli occhi per un attimo provando ad immaginare le persone che un tempo vi dimoravano, qui, nella fortezza in Vallunga, in una posizione decisamente particolare. c	channel max on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sono i resti molto suggestivi di un antico castello dei nobili Wolkenstein, costruito in una specie di grotta ( un portale d'ingresso, la facciata a chiusura dell'antro e l'interno dell'antro...). Mai un nome mi è sembrato così appropriato ( Wolkenstein= tradotto significa " la roccia tra le nuvole"...), data la posizione, a 1600 metri di altezza, sul fianco di una montagna. Ricorda molto una fortezza simile, in Svizzera, a Marmels. Si raggiunge in 20 minuti con un sentiero a tratti molto ripido, che parte vicino al Centro di Addestramento dei Carabinieri ( la parte finale del percorso è su di una antica scalinata di roccia consumata dagli anni..). Il percorso incrocia a metà strada il Sentiero del Calvario, da cui è ben fotografabile il castello. Consiglio vivamente di non tentare scorciatoie fuori dal percorso, rischiate di trovarvi su pietraie sdrucciolevoli.... I resti del castello non sono attualmente visitabili, ma la suggestione del posto ed il panorama,meritano la fatica che farete per raggiungerlo... Never has a name seemed so appropriate (Wolkenstein = translated means "the rock in the clouds" ...), given its position, at 1600 meters high, on the side of a mountain. It is very reminiscent of a similar fortress in Marmels in Switzerland. It can be reached in 20 minutes with a path that is sometimes very steep, which starts near the Carabinieri Training Center (the final part of the route is on an ancient rock staircase worn by the years ..). The route crosses the Calvary Path halfway, from which the castle is well photographed. I highly recommend not to attempt shortcuts off the path, you risk finding yourself on slippery stony ground .... The remains of the castle cannot currently be visited, but the suggestion of the place and the panorama deserve the effort you will make to reach it ...
