Situato nel golfo di Napoli a poche decine di metri dalla foce del Sarno in località Rovigliano, al confine tra Castellammare di Stabia e Torre Annunziata, ma amministrativamente dipendente da quest’ultimo. La sua struttura geologica è molto simile a quella dei Monti Lattari, cioè rocce sedimentarie, soprattutto di tipo calcareo formatesi presumibilmente in seguito allo scontro della placca africana con quella euroasiatica che formò sia catene montuose che depressioni. Its geological structure is very similar to that of the Lattari Mountains, i.e. sedimentary rocks, above all of a limestone type presumably formed following the collision of the African plate with the Eurasian one which formed both mountain ranges and depressions.
